Silver Care Tips

We hope that you will treasure and enjoy these cake decorations year after year and that they become part of all your family celebrations. Here are some tips on how to care for them so that they will look as lovely as the day you received them.

Wash your cake decorations after use in warm, soapy water, carefully removing any bits of cake with a soft toothbrush.

These cake decorations are NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. We do not recommend using very hot water to clean them with as it could ruin the silver-plating and melt the cake decorations.

Dry each piece thoroughly and lay them out on kitchen paper to absorb any excess humidity. Let them dry out completely. If the cake decorations are damp when stored away the silver-plating will tarnish.

To keep your cake decorations in tip-top condition wrap each individual piece in a little tissue paper (preferably acid free) before storing them back in their box. That way, the next time you take them out to use them, they will be as good as new!

Store somewhere cool and dry. Damp and hot conditions will cause the silver-plating to tarnish.

To brighten up your silver pieces we recommend using a silver dip solution. After dipping the cake decorations in the solution always ensure that you wash them with warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush and rinse thoroughly under lots of running water to remove any of the chemical dip. Again, ensure they are bone dry before storing away.
